Move the Ocean (2022 - ongoing) is an experimental interactive installation that transforms the viewer's movements into dynamic real-time rendered ocean waves. By moving in front of the screen, participants directly influence how the digital waves respond, creating an immersive and interactive experience.
Using Kinect sensors, TouchDesigner, and Unreal Engine, the installation reimagines the ocean as a non-humanoid virtual avatar of the viewer, offering a unique perspective on the relationship between human motion and force of nature - water.
The installation is meant to be diversely interpreted. It invites the viewer to question: What would it mean to be the ocean? To embody it? And what can the ocean teach us?
By "playing God" and essentially controlling the ocean, this reflective experience encouraged dialogue about human impact on the environment and climate change, while also questioning how non-humanoid avatars influence our perception of embodiment.
