A_live project (2024) is a video installation by multidisciplinary artist Laura Waltz, created as part of her artistic and methodological movement research during a Fellowship #8 at the Academy for Theater and Digitality in Dortmund.
The installation is presented on 3 canvases and explores movements, impulses, and breath through the interpretation of three distinct avatars, each with unique textures and characteristics.
Lasting approximately 8:30 minutes and accompanied by live music and underwater soundscapes, the project highlights the exploration of motion capture techniques to bring 3D avatars to life. It applies principles of puppetry and motion capture to animate these digital entities, exploring how human movement techniques can make them appear more organic and alive.

The "Wind" avatar was designed to emphasize the fluidity and expressiveness of the movement, using cloth and wind simulations created in Blender to extend and enhance the choreography.
